CyberDefense - Made in Germany: G DATA now with a new name

The German IT security provider is now called G DATA CyberDefense AG, underscoring its strategic orientation

G DATA CyberDefense AG instead of G DATA Software AG: 34 years after the founding of G DATA Software, the German technology company is now presenting itself as G DATA CyberDefense AG. The move underlines the German IT security company’s holistic approach to protecting companies against online risks.

Digitalization has penetrated all areas of life today. In line with this, the complexity and, therefore, the vulnerability of the systems being used is growing. Companies and society have become heavily dependent on computers and networks. As a result, cyber-attacks are becoming increasingly dangerous. Hacker attacks can endanger the very existence of companies.

Software alone can no longer deal with this

“The complexity of the digital world requires new strategies to provide effective protection against cyber attacks. Software remains an important building block for detecting and warding off attacks. However, companies must learn to understand IT security as a process”, says Andreas Lüning, co-founder and managing director of G DATA. Today, a comprehensive protection concept involves more than just installing endpoint protection software. G DATA supports companies in this process, in order to make them capable of defending themselves and warding off threats effectively.

Experience in pentesting, incident response, malware analysis and security assessments

With the founding of G DATA Advanced Analytics GmbH in 2015, G DATA had already begun to offer more services to corporate customers. Within a short amount of time, the company made a name for itself through its expertise in the areas of incident response, malware analysis and security consulting. G DATA Advanced Analytics was also involved in uncovering the Meltdown and Spectre security holes in modern processors.

With this reorientation, G DATA is now closing the gap between complex advanced analytics services and products to support the channel for small and medium-sized enterprises. The G DATA Cyber Defense Status Checks offer practical ways in which small and medium-sized enterprises can prepare themselves for the requirements of a penetration test.

Computers can anticipate anything - except their users

The increasing realisation that the biggest vulnerability is the one sitting in front of the computer is making the area of security awareness training via eLearning increasingly important. The active involvement of employees has become an essential component of the IT strategy, because training employees significantly improves the security of companies. Depending on the size of the company, security awareness training is also becoming increasingly relevant for compliance requirements in accordance with the GDPR and ISO/IEC 27001.
