MWC 2017: Mobile security is an elementary component of digitisation

G DATA is presenting its comprehensive security solutions for smartphones and tablets in Barcelona.

The Mobile World Congress is being held in Barcelona this year under the keyword “Elemental”. The slogan makes it clear – mobile devices have become a permanent fixture in the digital everyday world. In Germany alone, some 50 million people used a smartphone in 2016 (source: comScore). The threat situation is increasing rapidly – a new record of 3,246,284 new instances of Android malware was reached in 2016. This represents an increase of almost 40 percent compared to the previous year. Cyber criminals see an ever more lucrative market here and use various methods to try trap unsuspecting users. G DATA will demonstrate ways to protect iOS and Android devices and protect privacy. G DATA will also show ways for organizations to implement MDM strategies effectively at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from 27 February to 2 March 2017 in Hall 6, booth 6B40.

G DATA trade show highlights at the Mobile World Congress

  • Secure Chat for iOS and Android: G DATA Secure Chat offers highly secure, multilayer-encrypted chat communication – it also guarantees secure sharing of media such as photos and graphics. The app will be available soon for iOS as well.
  • Enhanced VPN module: iOS users also benefit from an integrated function in G DATA Mobile Internet Security. Users do not need a separate solution to protect network traffic when connected to public networks in hotels, cafés or airports. The integrated VPN module switches on automatically in the background when users surf the Internet, check email or carry out financial transactions with their smartphones or tablets.
  • Current threat situation: At 3,246,284 new instances, the total count of Android malware has reached a new all-time high in 2016. This represents an increase of almost 40 percent compared to 2015. Smartphones are indispensable part of everyday life. Besides banking, messaging or surfing, mobile do-all devices are also used as control devices for the Internet of Things. G DATA security experts will demonstrate current attack scenarios to private users and companies in Barcelona. How can the challenges of a mobile world be effectively overcome?
