Question:

From time to time I receive emails containing virus warnings. Most of them indicate that the email has come from a trusted source. How seriously should I take these warnings?

Response:

For a long time, there have been warnings for (alleged) viruses that apparently distribute themselves by email. Users often receive these emails and then forward the “warnings” themselves in good faith. These are hoaxes; the real purpose of these warnings is to generate unease in the user, resulting in large-scale distribution of the emails. Simply delete these messages without taking further action.
